Yesterday I had the opportunity to testify before the Connecticut State Legislature’s Judiciary Committee on Connecticut’s proposed drone bill HB-5217, entitled, “An Act Concerning Use Of Unmanned Aircraft.”
In my opinion, even the necessary portion of the bill, (the search warrant requirement), in its current draft is entirely unworkable.
Another portion is an unnecessary attempt to add “with a drone” to perfectly adequate, existing criminal statutes that already cover crimes committed with a drone.
The final portion would attempt to regulate that which the federal government’s exclusive jurisdiction would preempt.
